About Us

Who We Are

We are diverse community members including concerned parents and youths, social workers, psychotherapists and spiritual faith-leaders who recognize the need to address the issues of mental health in our community.

We strongly believe that having access to mental health resources that are culturally, linguistically and spiritually informed can reduce the probability and relative frequency of the mental health challenges our community members face.

We understand that mental illness is best addressed with a holistic approach that shares the responsibility of care with the individual, the family unit, and the community at large. Cultural biases such as stigma and shame are barriers to recognizing mental illnesses and access to early intervention care. In addition, as a Black and immigrant community there are many obstacles that directly impact our mental wellbeing such as racism and systemic discrimination, access to quality of education, lack of employment opportunities and generational trauma.

Building a stronger community for the next generation.
